An elderly couple from Kuala Lumpur reportedly drove three hours to Kuak Hulu, Perak, on June 30, 2025, after viewing a purportedly Google Veo 3-generated video depicting a nonexistent cable car attraction called the Kuak Skyride. Published on TikTok by "TV Rakyat," the video featured a synthetic reporter and purported visitors. The couple learned after arriving that the attraction did not exist.

Pennsylvania's Lancaster Country Day School Students Allegedly Used AI to Create Hundreds of Sexualized Deepfake Images of Girls

From November 2023 through May 2024, two Lancaster Country Day School students in Pennsylvania allegedly used AI tools to create and exchange hundreds of sexualized deepfake images depicting female classmates and other girls. Authorities later identified 60 victims, 59 of them minors. The students were adjudicated delinquent in juvenile court, and families later sued the school and unnamed AI companies over the incident.

A Reddit user reported in May 2025 that her mother is being groomed by scammers using an AI-generated deepfake video impersonating actor Owen Wilson. The scam reportedly began on a game app (Yahtzee with Friends) and shifted to WhatsApp voice calls, with the victim promised a fake Warner Bros job paying small sums via Cash App. The scammer allegedly claims he will buy a house for the victim's family as part of the deception. The video is cited as the main “proof” of authenticity.
