Incident 1610: Queensland Man Allegedly Distributed Purportedly AI-Generated Sexual Posters Falsely Advertising Women for Sex

Description: Queensland police in Australia allege that a man used AI to place at least eight women's faces onto explicit images and displayed posters containing their names, social media accounts, employment details, and false claims that they offered sexual services. The alleged campaign ran from February 2021 through May 2026.
Editor Notes: Timeline notes: The incident ID date is 02/01/2021, used as a month-level encoding because Queensland Police said the alleged poster campaign began in February 2021 but did not identify the date of the first poster. Police said a later poster was discovered in Gatton on 05/26/2026 and publicly announced the charges on 07/24/2026. The incident ID was created 07/30/2026.

Variants

A "variant" is an AI incident similar to a known case—it has the same causes, harms, and AI system. Instead of listing it separately, we group it under the first reported incident. Unlike other incidents, variants do not need to have been reported outside the AIID. Learn more from the research paper.
