Uber Facial Recognition: These days Uber drivers are facing some problem with facial recognition in the company's app. Because of this, the work of the drivers is being affected. In a report by MIT, it has been told that many drivers are facing problems in uploading selfies and due to this their account has been locked. Some people believe that the app is experiencing this problem due to changes in their appearance, such as facial hair, shaved heads or haircuts. Some people believe that they have got this problem due to low light. Regarding this, MIT Technology Review conducted a survey on 150 Uber drivers of the country. The results have been drawn on this basis.

Selfie is required for verification

There are about 600,000 Uber drivers in India, but many work for home-grown ride-sharing platforms Ola and startups like Swiggy, Zomato and Urban Company. All platforms ask to upload selfie for login and verification.

'Real Tine ID Check'

Uber uses a program called 'Real-Time ID Check' to check whether a driver's face matches the one on file with the company. It was rolled out in the US in 2016, in India in 2017 and then in other markets. This prevents fraud and keeps drivers' accounts secure.

Adnan Taqi, an Uber driver in Mumbai, landed in trouble when he took a selfie for verification one evening. He was locked up for 48 hours, he says he drives for 18 hours. His account got locked after taking the selfie. That too for a whole week. Taki says that this may have happened because of the grown beard.
