Incident 112222 Report
Reportedly Sustained Multi-Celebrity Deepfake Persona Scam Targeting Vulnerable Southampton Resident

Man thought he was communicating with Jennifer Aniston and became a victim of a scammer
baku.ws · 2025

A Briton thought he was communicating with actress Jennifer Aniston and became a victim of a scammer, writes Mirror.

Southampton resident Paul Davis, a big fan of the TV series "Friends," became a victim of a scammer who was impersonating actress Jennifer Aniston. As it turned out later, the criminal used deepfake technology to convince the man to transfer money to him.

Paul said that he was sure he was communicating with the actress, who confessed her love to him in messages. At some point, the person he was talking to claimed that she urgently needed £200 to pay for Apple subscriptions. During their communication, "Jennifer" sent Davis a photo of a driver's license and a video that seemed authentic to the Briton, which became the decisive factor that persuaded the man to transfer the funds.

The scammer impersonating Aniston also warned Paul not to spread information about the money transfer on social media. And after the necessary amount was sent, Davis was blocked. The man emphasized that his mental health was seriously affected by these incidents. He is sharing his story to warn others about the risks associated with deepfake technologies.
