Popular journalist Ravish Kumar, who quit the now-Adani-acquired NDTV media house to start journalism via YouTube, drawing over 1.4 crore followers, has flagged concerns about AI and deepfakes.
In his latest social media post, Kumar, a Ramon Magsaysay Award (2019) winner, stated that there are several channels on YouTube now that have been made with AI. Ravish remarked that these channels have mimicked his voice and image to read nonsensical news. The 50-year-old former NDTV editor urged viewers to stay away from such channels. He quipped on X/Twitter that the team has registered a complaint on YouTube regarding the same and they further await action.
YouTube par AI se aise kai channel ban gaye hai jinmein meri awaaz ki nakal hai. Mere chehre ka istemaal hai. Aur in channelon par anaap shanaap khabarein padhi jaa rahi hai. Krupya in channelon ko meri samajh ke naa dekhein. Hamne inke khilaaf shikayat ki hai. Karwavahi ka intezaar hai."
Meanwhile, reactions poured in on Ravish Kumar's tweet. One user remarked, "Your longtime viewers can tell the difference." "Please push for legal action," the user suggested. Another user cheekily advised, "Sir, ANI ki tarah aap bhi copyright strike kar dijiye." A third user jibed, "Nakal toh kar lenge par akal kahan se layenge."
