CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) — A former teacher in Corinth is accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to generate child pornography.
The Corinth Police Department identified the teacher as Wilson Jones, 30, of the Corinth School District.
He allegedly used AI to generate videos of students in sexual acts.
"To reiterate, these images were AI-generated, and at no time did these victims willingly produce any images or know that their pictures were being manipulated in such a way," police announced.
The FBI charged Jones with production of morphed images of child pornography and possession of morphed images of child pornography.
The alleged crime happened on or before Nov. 19, 2024, according to an FBI affidavit.
That’s when school administrators received an alert about illicit content on Jones’ school computer.
The school district uses an application to scan its computers for illicit content and alerts administrators when something is found.
Jones admitted to using AI to generate videos but claimed the content was not sexual, according to the affidavit.
The ages of the children featured in the videos ranged from 14 to 16. Images of the children came from social media, according to the affidavit.
Jones resigned on Nov. 21, 2024.
The Mississippi Department of Education received the report on Jan. 29, and MDE notified Corinth Police on Feb. 26, according to the FBI affidavit.
The FBI served the school district with a subpoena on March 3 to gather evidence, including videos, laptops and anything related to the incident.
WTVA received the following statement from the school district:
“The Corinth School District internet filtering system alerted district administration of inappropriate activity on a teacher computer. The District investigated the complaint, took action, and reported the matter, as required, to the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Educator Misconduct.
Since this relates to the employment of a former school district employee and is subject to a current law enforcement investigation, the District cannot offer any additional comment at this time. The District has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with any law enforcement request for assistance.”
