CORINTH, Miss. - A disturbing discovery led to the arrest of a Mississippi teacher.
According to the Corinth Police Department (CPD), authorities arrested 30-year-old Corinth School District educator Wilson Jones on two charges of production of a morphed image of child pornography.
A post on the Corinth Elementary School website highlighting 4th grade teachers and assistants identifies a Wilson Jones. It's not clear when that entry was made on the school's website.
Jones' arrest stemmed from a complaint filed on January 29. School officials passed that complaint along to CPD, who, along with the FBI, carried out a search warrant on March 3. Authorities seized a laptop and a thumb drive, among other items, CPD said.
That evidence showed videos, generated by artificial intelligence (AI), of multiple students engaging in sexual activity, according to police. CPD emphasized that the images in those videos were AI-generated and said that at no time did the students willingly produce any of that content or know that their pictures were being used to create the videos.
The department said that CPD Chief Landon Tucker passed the case along to the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
"Chief Tucker wants the public to know there is nothing more sacred than the safety and security of our children," a news release from the police department said.
CPD asked anyone who thinks that they, or their child, may be a victim of any misconduct by Jones to give them a call at 662-286-3377.
