I trusted the health advice… The identity of the woman who said she was a doctor with over 10 years of experience is ‘shock’
mk.co.kr · 2025

A doctor who was popular as a health advice influencer on the Chinese video platform TikTok was revealed to be an avatar created by artificial intelligence (AI).

The British daily The Independent reported on the 7th (local time) that a doctor who was popular on TikTok for giving health advice was a fake created by an AI app, sparking controversy.

According to The Independent, if you search for the slang term ‘Kuchi Doctor’ on TikTok, which means a female gynecologist, numerous videos of AI bots disguised as doctors giving advice appear.

Most of them introduce themselves as “I’ve worked as an gynecologist for over 10 years” or “I’m a plastic surgery or diet expert” and provide information about their health.

In one video in particular, the Kuchi Doctor suggested eating pineapple or cucumber salad for gut health and compared ingredients called lemon balm and Ozempic. The video became a hot topic, garnering 3 million views, and thousands of netizens asked for instructions on how to make it. There were over 36,000 comments asking where to buy it.

However, a TikTok user named Jayvon Ford, who runs a beauty brand named after himself, revealed that 'Kuchi Doctor' was created by an AI app.

He claimed that "this creepy doctor was created by an app called 'Captions' that creates AI avatars."

Ford explained that while browsing avatars, he happened to find that the same doctor as TikTok's Kuchi Doctor was listed on the app as an avatar named 'Violet.'

He said that after inputting the script himself, he was able to obtain a video of Violet giving advice as if she were a doctor.

Netizens who heard this news responded with comments such as "This is shocking" and "I was completely fooled."
