A minor has been arrested by the National Police in Palma for creating naked images of five female classmates using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The teenager, according to a statement issued by the Police Headquarters on Saturday, took the victims' photographs from their social networks and then manipulated them with an application. The arrested man is accused of a crime of corruption of minors.
The investigation began after several victims reported that they had spread images of themselves in which they appeared naked. The photographs had a high degree of reality. The Technological Crimes (Cybercrime) and Economic Crime Group of the National Police found out that the teenager, who was a schoolmate of the minors, had downloaded the images from the victims' social networks and used them to create artificial nudes.
The parents of the victims explained that at first glance the nude photos of their daughters seemed real and that they had to look very closely to realise that it was a setup as the degree of realism was very high. The facts have been brought to the attention of the Balearic Islands Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
