The company UTE issued a statement warning about a scam circulating in a fraudulent video that seeks to deceive the population through false information. The material misleadingly uses images of the company, of the renowned Uruguayan soccer player Luis Suárez, and of a reporter from an American media outlet.

The video, visibly manipulated, promotes a supposed investment opportunity that promises to solve "the financial problems of all Uruguayans." According to the fraudulent content, with an initial investment of 10,400 pesos, a monthly return of 175,000 pesos can be achieved. The video that had been uploaded to Instagram has already been taken down.

In addition, the images and voice of Suárez have been digitally altered to simulate that the soccer player supports this supposed investment, reinforcing the deception.

UTE urged the public not to enter any personal or financial information on platforms related to the video and to be wary of these types of messages that attempt to impersonate the company or public figures in order to scam.
