“Poor quality fakes”. This is how Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba commented on the video and photo images shared on a Telegram channel, in which a person with physical features similar to his appears in a place that seems to be a sauna, next to a woman, who the author of the Telegram channel says is a whore. In the recordings, bottles of alcohol can be seen on the table, and the authors of the video claim that the man, who is allegedly Alaiba, also took drugs.
According to Dumitru Alaiba, the videos and photos are fake and were released by supporters of the Kremlin and are part of Russia’s propaganda. “By coincidence, this fake, which could have been disseminated at any time, is distributed promptly today to cover the shameful news about a Kremlin candidate who has Romanian citizenship. A two-penny attempt,” added the minister. Alaiba urged the citizens to be vigilant because there will be a lot of dirt, a lot of fakes, lies and denigrations during the remaining campaign days.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean commented on the subject at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting. He called those who shared the images “degenerates”, describing the images as fake.
“We are in an election campaign and we see that we have more degenerates. Yes, degenerates who produce lies, produce falsehoods, but I think that there is always the limit of decency. And I want to remind you that in the election campaign, the subject and discussion must be about how to build Moldova and, if you don’t have a plan on how to develop the Republic of Moldova, then don’t fill the information space with lies, fake videos and so on because that won’t help you,” stated Premier Recean.
The official added that he will follow the civil and criminal proceedings instituted by Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba.
