baijiahao.baidu.com · 2024

In recent years, information technology represented by big data and artificial intelligence (AI) has been changing with each passing day. At the same time, the use of AI tools to synthesize technology to fabricate rumors and even generate pictures, audio and video that are close to reality has subverted the conventional cognition that "there is truth in pictures", making it difficult to distinguish between true and false. Today, the Internet police will take you to understand the truth behind AI tool rumors!

[Definition of AI rumor]

AI rumor refers to the use of artificial intelligence technology to generate false information, including text, pictures, audio and video, etc., to create online rumors.

After investigation, it was found that the offender Yang Moumou collected relevant information on the Internet in order to obtain traffic for profit, and used AI software to generate false news information that "8 people have been killed in Yunnan landslide disaster", and posted it on the Internet platform, causing adverse social impact. At present, the public security organs have imposed administrative penalties on Yang Moumou in accordance with the law.

**Case 2: **Using AI software to fabricate

"Xide County Earthquake" online rumors

On June 9, 2024, a netizen posted a video on a video platform saying: "On May 27, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The epicenter was in Xide County, and the seismic waves propagated at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The earthquake caused a large number of house damages and casualties, and the disaster was serious." After investigation, it was found that a 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Liangshan on May 27, with the epicenter in Muli County. There were no casualties, and some houses were damaged. In order to attract attention and gain traffic, the offender Luo Moumou used AI software to generate false earthquake disaster pictures and spread false information on a short video platform. At present, the public security organs have imposed administrative penalties on Luo Moumou in accordance with the law.

**Case 3: **Using AI software to fabricate

"Woman died suddenly after her electric bike was seized" online rumor

In June 2024, a message about "the collision between law enforcement and humanity: a 50-year-old woman died suddenly after her electric bike was seized" appeared on a certain network platform. The article said: "A woman in Chengcheng County was in a hurry to take care of her seriously ill father, but she encountered traffic police enforcement. After her pleading failed and her electric bike was confiscated, she collapsed emotionally and suffered a heart attack and ultimately failed to survive this test." This "twists and turns" article has attracted widespread attention from netizens and has had a great negative impact on the local area. After investigation, Tian used AI tools to process and generate false information that "a woman in Chengcheng County died suddenly after her electric bike was seized" and posted it to his platform account. At present, Tian confessed that he had fabricated rumors through AI software, and the public security organs imposed administrative penalties on Tian in accordance with the law.

**The above cases are all false information synthesized by AI software. In order to earn platform rewards or attract traffic, criminals use AI software to automatically generate articles, graft them with actual pictures, and post them on online platforms, causing adverse social impacts and seriously disrupting social public order. **
